The leadership team at the new Stamford Welland Academy has been given a boost following the appointment of two new faces.
Chris Beckett and Louise Warren have both joined the academy to deliver the new vision for the academy and assist in its transition.
Mr Beckett is most well-known locally for his leadership work at The Deepings School during which the school became rated as Outstanding by Ofsted, and year-on-year improvements in academic performance were achieved.
Mr Beckett joins the new leadership team to help drive improvements and instil high expectations and standards across the academy.
Mrs Warren, one of the original Free School proposers and Stamford resident for more than 10 years, will become the academy’s transition programme manager, working closely with Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust leaders to embed the free-school vision that was presented to the Stamford community and the Department for Education.
This will include the introduction of CMAT’s successful House system with vertical tutoring; the Pledges awards system – an award based programme that promotes and encourages students to take on extra responsibility and do more for their community; and the introduction of the new curriculum.
New Principal Anthony Partington said: “I am delighted to have the support of Mr Beckett and Mrs Warren. Their experience in the local community and understanding of local education needs will help to bring about meaningful change and help us to deliver the new school for Stamford that the town deserves.”
The new members of the leadership team were announced at a community information evening at the academy on Tuesday 16th September 2014.
The new academy opened its doors to pupils at the beginning of September, and will officially join CMAT on the 1st October 2014.
Parents and pupils from the local primary schools are also invited to attend the academy’s first formal open evening on Wednesday 8th October 2014 from 5.30pm until 8.00pm.
Mr Partington is also offering the opportunity for members of the community to have personal guided tours with him on Friday mornings between 9.00am and 10.00am. Please get in touch with Suzanne Cooper on 01780 751011 to arrange a suitable date.
