It was a very proud night for students, families and staff at Stamford Welland Academy’s Annual Prizegiving Awards Ceremony which took place, on the new stage in the newly refurbished hall last night.
It was a wonderful evening of celebration and performances as many of the Academy’s students collected their awards for their achievements in the academic year 2014-2015.
The evening was introduced by Head Girl, Hanifa Bhabha which was followed by an introduction by Chair of Governors, Mr.Roger Moore and an address by Principal, Mr. Anthony Partington. Mr.Partington spoke of the enormous number of achievements which have taken place in the school over the course of the last academic year and the pride in the students who have been recognised for their talents in so many different areas.
A solo piano piece was beautifully performed by Year 7 student, Xander Cooke before the presentation of certificates and trophies were delivered to the students by Wing Commander Georgia Williams, Office Commanding 85 (Expeditionary Logisitics ) Wing RAF Wittering.
Stamford Welland Choir performed two songs before Wing Commander Georgia Williams gave a powerful speech about her own education choices and career path, with her main message being to never give up on your dreams.
The evening culminated in a thank you speech by the Head Girl, Hanifa Bhaha and Head Boy, Aaron Dexter, followed by a stunning ensemble performed by Kieran Stubbs on drums, Megan Clayton on vocals and guitar and Hanifa Bhabha and Jessica Lambe on vocals.
