Stamford Welland Academy is delighted to unveil their Stamford Sports Campus.
Through building strong relationships with local businesses and sports facilities, Stamford Welland Academy is now able to offer an enviable array of sporting facilities for their students in the very heart of Stamford.
The Academy has been working hard to build partnerships with local establishments to ensure an exciting suite of sports facilities are available for their students to use on a regular basis. When CMAT took over the school in October 2014, they soon realised what a rich and vibrant town Stamford was and also what it had to offer in terms of sporting facilities. Rather than reinvent the wheel introducing facilities on site, the Stamford community has worked together to give Stamford Welland Academy students access to multi million pound facilities right in the heart of our town.
This includes the use of the Burghley Estates, Whitewater Reservoir, for rowing and kayaking. As 2015 County Champions, Stamford Welland Academy students are looking forward to getting out on the water as part of their training for local and national regattas. Burghley Estates have also offered a Golf Scholarship Scheme, which offers private coaching for interested students, as well as membership to The Burghley Golf Club.
Many of our students are now taking part in equestrian activities at Grasslands Equestrian Centre in Helpston and after a successful year, Stamford Welland Academy’s Equestrian team are now ready to take part in local horse riding competitions.
The new Borderville stadium, just a short walk from the Academy, has offered the use of its state of the art 4G pitches for football and hockey training.
Our close partnership with Stamford Endowed Schools has also meant that we are able to take advantage of the short walk to their multi-million pound swimming centre. Students have already benefitted from Water Confidence Programmes right through to Life Saving Certification.
The Academy continues to offer badminton, basketball, gymnastics, athletics, rugby, tennis and cricket on site but would like to extend gratitude to the Stamford community for offering such fantastic opportunities to the students at the Academy. It is really encouraging to see the school becoming fully embedded within the Stamford community.
