Meridian Maths Curriculum Aims
The aim of the KS3 curriculum is for students to master the key skills and apply their knowledge to challenging and unfamiliar contexts.
The aim of KS4 study is to build upon the key constructs of the KS3 mastery curriculum.
Students will develop fluency in Mathematics through reasoning and problem solving
In addition to this our SWA intent is to;
- Develop and implement the SWA 6 into the curriculum and to share and be open to best practice across the academy.
- Develop resilience through problem solving in applying skills and knowledge in unfamiliar contexts.
- Time is allowed for students to develop as independent learners, through reflection of their own mathematical ability (aspiration and resilience).
Offer all students the opportunity to experience Mathematics outside the classroom. For example, Bletchley, Math Challenges, etc.
- Prepare the foundations of skills required at GCSE and build on these over the 5 years.
- Ensure that students understand the importance of mathematics and numeracy post 16 and the possible pathways that require these skills.
