Modern Foreign Languages
Our school is host to a wide range of abilities and the classroom is a reflection of this. We welcome cohorts where children are not starting on an even playing field due to socio-economic circumstances.
The intent for MFL is to bridge the cultural capital gap for all children, giving them the keys to understanding their worth in society at large.
We have also identified low motivation for MFL learning across the community, and lower than desired uptake at GCSE.
To this effect, our teaching will be:
- progressive and deep, aiming at rooting out stereotypes and social determinism.
- make use of the SWA 6 to ensure effective QFT across all lessons.
- inspire and motivate pupils in their MFL studies.
