Sport News – Fixtures and Results
Extra-curricular sport is an important part of our Academy life, with teams at all age levels participating in a full range of sports and physical activities in local, regional and national competitions. Enrichment clubs, team practices and competitive fixtures operate during lunchtimes and after school throughout the year, while the wide range of sports and physical activities remain popular choices within the electives programme.
The Academy offers a Sports Scholarship programme to support, stretch and challenge our most gifted and talented sports performers.
The House system also aims to enrich students’ lives by promoting friendly competition within the Academy. All students and staff are placed in one of three houses and events take place throughout the year, with students encouraged to participate and represent their House according to their strengths and abilities. Each House is led by a House Captain, elected by their peers.
Well done to the girls’ football team who faced a strong Queen Elizabeth High School in yesterday’s Cup game. Unfortunately, they couldn’t come away with the win however there was some brilliant stand out performances and they should be proud to have got so far.

A huge congratulations to Alice in Year 7, who proudly represented SWA & Lincolnshire at the Anglian County Cross Country Championships. Alice ran a fantastic race, finishing 28th out of nearly 70 athletes.
January 2026
The year 10 boys bowed out in the quarter finals of the National Cup this afternoon. To get this far in a national competition, is a fantastic achievement for them. They lost 4-1 to a strong St Patrick’s side, from Stockton. A great goal from Freddie today.

Congratulations to the year 8 boys’ football team who are through to the next round of the Meridian Cup. The game finished 1-1, Dan S with the goal for SWA.
SWA won the penalty shootout with Freddie, Finley and John all scoring from the spot. A fantastic result against a strong Stratton team.

Well done to the year 9 boys’ basketball team. They were narrowly beaten by Carre’s Grammar School last night 46-50. Carre’s is an all boys school, so have 150 boys per year group to select a team from. This is a great achievement from the year 9s – particularly in the last quarter where they pulled back from being 12 points down to just 4.

Great win by SWA against Kings Grammar School, Grantham this afternoon. It was a very close match with #teamswa coming out the winners with a 33-32 win!
